Tips for horseowners

Here are a few of my favourite tips for about the yard and home:

1. Create your own barrier cream for muddy conditions: 10 drops tea tree oil, zinc oxide cream 50g or Sudocream, vaseline (10-20g) or half the amount of sudocream. Mix together and apply to heels.

2. Use up remaining ends of saddlesoap by putting them in a container with a small amount of milk and microwave until soap melts. Stir thoroughly and leave to set. Makes a rich soft soap which is easy to use.

3. Dandruff in you horses coat after clipping? Use a handful of breadsoda in some warm water and sponge solution on affected areas. Leaves coat shining.
